MicroStem Founder Dr. Shu Chien Awarded National Medal of Science

September 15, 2011: 

MicroStem founder Dr. Shu Chien awarded the National Medal of Science.  Dr. Chien, Director to the Jacobs School of Bioengineering at UCSD recieved the award from President Obama in recognition for his achievments and contribustions to bioengineering and basic science thorughout his career.  The White House announcement said Chien was named "for pioneering work in cardiovascular physiology and bioengineering, which has had tremendous impact in the fields of microcirculation, blood rheology and mechanotransduction in human health and disease." www.nctimes.com/blogsnew/business/morning/article_1cea549a-b476-566c-9e16-3cc9bebb70ba.html
